At 22,394 square miles, sparkling Lake Michigan is one of the largest bodies of fresh water in the world. For hundreds of years, this lake has been a crucial conduit of trade, first among the Native peoples who inhabited the area, and more recently by large freight companies towing cargo to and from the major metropolitan areas dotting the coastline. Lake Michigan is also known for its wonderful recreational opportunities, which include yachting, kayaking, diving, kitesurfing, shoreline camping, and of course, sailing.
The Chicago Sailing Club exists as a social club for people in the Chicago area who enjoy sailing on the refreshing waters of Lake Michigan. We spend most warm weather weekends out on Lake Michigan and organize group sailing trips around the Great Lakes and sometimes even beyond. Whether you’re a novice or an old-hand, we invite you to join us on our summer sailing adventures.
